His research spans theoretical and experimental studies in advanced propulsion and energy systems, including magneto-inertial fusion, nuclear thermal propulsion, high-voltage dielectrophoresis, hypersonics, and smooth particle hydrodynamics for interplanetary space travel and terrestrial power applications.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Cassibry has over 20 years of post-PhD experience in numerical modeling and experimental research for advanced propulsion, pulsed-power, and high-energy-density physics applications. He is the principal investigator of the Charger Advanced Propulsion and Power (CAPP) pulsed-power facility, which supports research in z-pinch and related high-current plasma systems for propulsion, power, and defense applications.<\/p>\n<p>He received the SciQuest 2013 Quest for Excellence Award in Academia and the Konrad Dannenberg Educator of the Year Award in 2013. He was a coauthor of the AIAA Best Paper by the Nuclear and Future Flight Propulsion Technical Committee, AIAA-2014-3520,\u00a0<em>\u201cDeveloping the Pulsed Fission-Fusion (PuFF) Engine.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0In 2021, he was named Outstanding Faculty Member for the College of Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Jason Cassibry is a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and is affiliated with the Propulsion Research Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
